CHARACTER
Name: Venti
True Name: Barbatos
Canon: Genshin Impact 2.5 update. he doesn't appear in it or anything, it's just the most recent update.
Age: over 2600 years old.
History: wiki
Powers/Abilities: he kinda has a lot, he is/was a god after all.
Inventory: his clothes and his fake vision. he can use his power to summon/create his harp and bow as well but he doesn't really carry it around with him physically otherwise. the bow he'd use would be the skyward harp. he also has a wind glider that he can use to glide/ride updrafts.
Job History:
1. Busker/Bard
2. God of Mondstadt/Anemo Archon (retired)
Suppressions:
He has quite a lot of insecurity and baggage, though it's not very evident from the way he acts when he's so playful and friendly and easy-going. He has had 2600 years of history to deal with these issues but whether he's been successful or healthy about confronting these trauma and fears is... questionable, especially considering that he's an alcoholic who binge drinks heavily and all that implies.
Greatest Fear: That Mondstadt might someday be destroyed, whether by a higher power (Celestia) or any other (the Abyss), potentially while he's hibernating and has no idea what's going on, or while he's awake and would fight to protect the country but may fail regardless if he's not strong enough.
Greatest Desire: To see his friend (nameless bard) again. He's resigned to the fact that of course this would never happen.
Greatest Regret: That his friend died in the rebellion and he wasn't able to save him, and he (nameless bard) wasn't able to experience the freedom that they'd fought for.

True Name: Barbatos
Canon: Genshin Impact 2.5 update. he doesn't appear in it or anything, it's just the most recent update.
Age: over 2600 years old.
History: wiki
Powers/Abilities: he kinda has a lot, he is/was a god after all.
- wind manipulation/skyward sonnet: he can create updrafts/wind domains like so. in genshin gameplay this would hurl enemies up in the air and/or send him flying so he could glide from the top of the draft. the updraft extends up to a height of several meters, maybe a storey or so, but it's likely that he could create much stronger drafts as well. canonically as a god he has literally leveled mountains/blown mountains out to sea, BUT he's lost his gnosis and likely doesn't have that much power anymore. he can also appear/disappear/manifest himself from wind.
- wind's grand ode: he can create vortices/black holes that suck in items/enemies and batter them in midair. in genshin gameplay there do exist enemies that are too heavy to be lifted so this isn't an overwhelmingly powerful ability but it's still pretty formidable.
- illusion magic: he 'borrowed' (stole) a holy lyre from the church (though it was originally his in the first place). after some shenanigans, it broke; he was able to 'fix' it miraculously, but it's only an illusion and would return to its broken state eventually.
- flight: he has wings when he assumes his archon form, though he rarely does so except in dire circumstances. it's possible that he may have lost this form as well after he lost his gnosis, canon is unclear. it's also possible he can fly in his 'incognito' human form as well, more so than just gliding/creating/riding his updraft.
- archery: he uses a bow and arrow in combat and is very skilled at it; he fires the most arrows per second in genshin gameplay.
- hammerspace lyre/bow: he 'creates' his lyre and his weapon with magic (likely anemo magic) and can dissipate them at will.
- maaaybe kind of exorcism?: KIND OF?? I'm not sure how much this counts BUT there's an instance in which he comforted someone who was heavily guilt-stricken/haunted by his friend's death. it's not exactly clear whether he was literally haunted or not (though genshin does have many instances of ghosts) but he was able to kind of 'purify' the heavy survivor's guilt: he says literally "Will you hand me your old friend's spirit?" and lifts the trauma to give some peace to the survivor. also, as Barbatos/the Anemo Archon, he is said to guide the spirits of his countrymen back to their homeland of Mondstadt unless they die in a 'windless' land, so there's a vague 'ferryman' of the dead concept going on with him.
- anti-scrying: he has some kind of 'block' or is aware of when people/magicians are trying to scry into him and he can divert their efforts, as well as send the wind to blow at them to further distract them.
- wisp form: his original form is a wind wisp; it's unknown whether he ever returns to this form but it's possible he can. it's unlikely that he would, both because of painful memories and he's pretty weak in that state, so it's kind of risky.
- transformation in general: archons are known to shapeshift and Venti created his own current form by modeling it off of his dead friend. it's possible that he can transform into another form but he 99% will not do so, he's attached to his look for very personal reasons. it's also possible that he actually can't transform after losing his gnosis, ~we have no idea~ a lot of archon powers are pretty up-in-the-air.
- crazy alcohol tolerance: he's inhuman and a literal (ex-)god, he can apparently drink at least 37 glasses of wine to no ill effect.
- he is not exactly immortal, as in he can be killed if it comes down to it. but if that doesn't happen or any fatal random incidents occur he doesn't have a finite lifespan and would outlive any mortals.
Inventory: his clothes and his fake vision. he can use his power to summon/create his harp and bow as well but he doesn't really carry it around with him physically otherwise. the bow he'd use would be the skyward harp. he also has a wind glider that he can use to glide/ride updrafts.
Job History:
1. Busker/Bard
- Responsibilities: Playing music, storytelling, writing/reciting poems, other related entertainment as necessary for the occasion. Also drinking, lots of it, this counts as a responsibility, honest. Will accept payment in drinks rather than coin.
- Skills: Multi-instrumentalist, specializing in the lyre. Can also play the harp and the Dihua flute and likely many other instruments or potentially all of them. Claims to know all songs from past, present, and future.
- Other: Occasionally moonlights as a poetry teacher, especially during Windblume/romantic holidays. Also has been voted "Most Popular Bard of Mondstadt" three times! Potentially over the 2600 year period of his lifetime but hey. Warning: may resort to thievery for food/wine if the money flow is low.
2. God of Mondstadt/Anemo Archon (retired)
- Responsibilities: The well-being and happiness of the citizens of Mondstadt, the creation and upkeep of a functional and just society of Mondstadt that would embody freedom over tyranny.
- Skills: Terraformation of the country to dispel the brutal cold and create a warm and peaceful pastoral climate. Deposing of tyrants when they come to power and liberation of civilians under their rule. Forgery of a fellow god's signature to fake papers that civilians would be sold as slaves to prompt an uprising against corrupt aristocrats. Overseeing the creation of the Knights of Favonius and the Four Winds to protect the peace and freedom of the country.
- Other: Has recently and forcibly retired when the Harbinger La Signora took his Gnosis, but has functionally been an 'absentee' god who would leave his country for long periods of time or hibernate for unsaid reasons. He would reappear to protect the country from danger such as Durin's corruption and the Lawrence clan's tyranny, but it could be argued that his light laissez-faire method of governance (or none at all) means he doesn't fulfill much godly duty at all. Also, his own citizens (with the exception of a few) don't recognize him as their god, just as a drunken bard.
Suppressions:
- Imposter syndrome: Venti ascended to godhood almost purely by chance, happening to be in the right place at the right time when a stronger demigod turned down the title and responsibility to be Archon. Even more literally, he modeled his face and entire form after his dead friend: every time he'd look at himself in the mirror is a constant reminder of the fact that his image and potentially everything he is is an 'imposter'.
- Freedom: he does believe in his philosophy of 'freedom' in leaving his country to rule over themselves and does create safeguards and the Four Winds and the like to try to watch over Mondstadt, but there's an irresponsibility regardless to leaving Mondstadt as he travels and wanders at his whim and absence. In particular, there was a period in which Mondstadt fell into a literal slave society under an aristocracy, though this was during his hibernation and it's unknown how much control he has over his long periods of sleep. He is whimsical and flighty, could occasionally or often be hard to locate or get a read on, and can just about embody the good and failings of freedom as a concept.
- Immortality: he's not absolutely immortal, he can be killed if it comes down to it. Many gods have died throughout Teyvat's history and within Venti's lifetime. Deicide or anything else notwithstanding though, he will and has outlived all the mortals he's known (with rare exceptions like Vennessa, who ascended from humanity to become one of the Four Winds). It makes it a liiittle difficult to be terribly attached to humans, especially considering the one person he'd loved the most died in battle early in Venti's life even before godhood.
