[ truth be told, he's actually very impressed with alice. spiriting away her daughter and friends to an abandoned archipegalo for an impromptu vacation? that's the kind of capricious playfulness that barbatos could absolutely approve of, it's the kind of prank he might be tempted to pull on other deities and demigods if he thinks he could totally get away with it. all right, so maybe morax would hurl a boulder at him and raiden might consider striking him with lightning if he ever tried it with them, even if they're both heavily in need of vacations... maybe the number of people he could spirit away without getting scolded or attacked is very few. maybe it'd be limited to mortals.
so, alice really is a formidable woman that she could pull this off with charm and aplomb. still, he thinks he could use her little experiment to conduct one of his own, with someone he's had his eye on for a good amount of time now, someone he's had his reluctant suspicions about but could never quite find the opportunity to get close to or talk to. the traveler had told him that albedo is the type who would just about ignore anyone he's disinterested in and when they share so few interests (music? alchemy? do they have any in common, actually?) maybe the only way to sneak an opportunity to talk to him in depth is by literally isolating him like this.
albedo seems intrigued by the ruins and history of the previous inhabits of the island and venti himself is easygoing and happy enough exploring, combing the beach for shells, just about enjoying a free summer getaway. so he'd volunteered to stay behind with the alchemist while dvalin flies off with klee and the gunnhildr sisters, kaeya and diluc, razor, rumbling a promise to come back to pick up the two of them on a second trip. he might be a big dragon but even he has a carrying capacity--or at least, venti's slyly let him in on the plan and he's reluctantly agreed to let his ex-archon spend some time with the shady homunculus on the island.
it's evening and the sun is starting to set red-gold on the sea waves when venti hops up from the the beach where he'd been taking a nice little catnap on a blanket alice laid out and ventures out to find albedo. ] Mr. Alchemiiist!
That dragon sure is taking a while to get back to us, isn't he. [ albedo surely shouldn't know about his connection to dvalin, that'll just remain a little secret between jean and lisa and kaeya and the others. ] How are you doing?
[ the islands have plenty of wild fruits, fish, places to camp, the ruins from the previous island dwellers... all things considered, it's a nice place to get away to, other than the hilichurls and whatnot. maybe albedo too needed a vacation. who can say? ]
[ As interesting and unusual as this little misadventure to the archipelago has been- Albedo doesn't mind the renewed peace and quiet that comes with being in the second party to leave. It gives some much desired time to examine some of the ruins by himself without any interruptions. ]
[ Or so he thought. There had been the hope that Albedo had managed to slip away unnoticed once again while there's still enough daylight to examine these ruins, but apparently not. That cheery voice cuts through his concentration but he hardly even looks up to acknowledge the interloper as he deadpans. ]
Mister Bard.
[ They're acquaintances at most. Hardly even that, truth be told. Plus he's not entirely sure of the bard's age so it seems fitting that Albedo responds to this bombastic companion in a similar fashion. Although the rumors about the bard's boozer habits are not difficult to stumble upon in Mondstadt so he must be older than he looks? ]
[ If he had found it strange in the beginning that someone seemingly so unconnected to the Knights or Klee ended up on this little excursion... those suspicions were assuaged once he observed a certain level of familiarity between Jean, Diluc, and the bard in question. Enough, at least, for Albedo to go through the motions of a conversation without discomfort. ]
I'm fine. But now that you mention it, it- or rather, he? He certainly has taken his time, hasn't he? I can only hope that they haven't run into some unforeseen trouble.
[ That's a bit of a troubling thought. Enough that it puts a little crease in the alchemist's brow. A concern for Klee was the (main) reason he'd come here in the first place. It wouldn't do to have to immediately set off on a rescue mission so soon. ]
